The dreaded comfort zone! |

Why do we tend to stay stuck in less than pleasant circumstances? The dreaded Comfort Zone! It can kill dreams, stifle creativity, lead to numbed emotions, and wreak havoc in the home. What a powerful force it is! How is it that we keep on choking ourselves within a certain comfort zone rather than breathe in the fullness of our lives? I bet you can give me answers right now that would take a long while to scroll through and read. Well, try this on for size: if you knew for certain that one change you would like to make in your life was in fact already real and you loved it - what did you do to go after it? Hmmm. Was it as difficult as you thought? Did something terrible happen to you or anyone else? How does it feel to live life inside this new reality, which you just created for yourself by thinking about it? You DO create your own reality each and every day. Staying in that limiting comfort zone won't take you to the reality you'd rather be living. The very thoughts you think get blasted out into the Universe as invisible energy. That energy matches up to everything that it resonates with, and voila! you have a life that is a perfect reflection of what YOU send out and give off. So what does that really mean? Change your thinking. Change your words and your self-talk. And you will see changes in your outer world. Hold thoughts of a purpose for your life that means fulfillment for you. Observe your own thinking and language. Is it positive and full of promise, or negative and rife with blame, guilt and other nasty stuff? This is just a brief touch upon the dynamics of our own thinking and the ways we choose to keep our fondest dreams remote - unattainable. I love the concept of thinking backwards. When you hold in your mind a complete, bright picture of something you really desire and imagine it being absolutely real in that moment, then think backwards to how you got to this wonderful reality - you WILL discover steps you 'took' to get there. You will get concrete ideas to take action on. But, only IF you are willing to leave your comfort zone! One more thing I want to point out is that a comfort zone for anyone is usually made up of very old, no longer useful, and restricting belief systems, which limit personal growth, achievement and happiness. The irony is, even in my own life, while I know this to be true it is extremely difficult to move beyond those limiting beliefs about myself, my life and the way the world works. The really great, GREAT news is that any of us can learn to practice some very simple skills to re-invent ourselves and our lives. I make it my business now to PowerUp as many lives as I can possibly reach! I walked away from my comfort zone. I left corporate development and marketing consulting to pursue my passion for people and the field of personal development. Now, as a Professional Life Coach, I wake up every morning excited and eager to get going! Was I afraid? Yup. Did I have disbelievers among friends and family. You bet. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! My sole purpose when coaching someone is to help them along as they go for their own goals. I am not happy until my own client is living a PowerLife! too. Living the best of who they are in their becoming. What does that mean? To "your becoming"? Simply that, as your guide, I support you and challenge you to go beyond that comfort zone, and live an authentic life - as dictated by your very own dreams for yourself. The kind of power I refer to throughout my work means inner strength, self-confidence, wild aspirations and the intent to achieve desires. Any desire is inner proof that the power to pursue it, and achieve it, is also there. To Your PowerLife! Copyright 2006. Sylvia MacKenzie. All Rights Reserved.
