When we are looking for a job, preparing to go through a series of job interviews can certainly be a stressful experience. One thing that can put your mind at ease next time we have a job interview scheduled is to look at the interviewing process from the eyes of an interviewer. Just as you are hoping to get a job offer when we go on a job interview, the interviewer is hoping to find the right candidate to fill open position. When we are one searching for a job, we do not often stop and think that interviewer needs the job filled just as badly as we need job. Do not go into an interview thinking that interviewer wants to scare you away. The interviewer is looking for reasons to hire you. When we consider interviewing process from the eyes of the interviewer, it is a little easier to realize that he or she isn't looking for reasons to exclude we from consideration for the job. No matter who we are interviewing with, it's a safe bet that person is hoping that we will work out for the position, so that he or she can stop looking for a new hire. Interview With a Small Business Owner If job interviewer is owner of a small business, he or she's probably having to do all of work that new hire will take care of. While interviewer certainly wants to hire right person, his or her life will certainly be easier once someone is hired. Interview with a Recruiter Sometimes when we interview for a position with a larger, more established company, we will interview with a recruiter or member of human resources department. What many job seekers do not realize is that a major component in most recruiters' performance evaluations is length of time it takes them to fill open positions. What Do Recruiters Look For? Interviewers look for signs that we have skills needed for job, that we have a good work ethic, and that we will be a good fit for organization. Since you probably submitted a job application or resume prior to being invited to interview, it's likely that the interviewer is fairly certain that you have skills he or she is looking for. However, expect some questions designed to determine if we really do know how to do things that are detailed in your application paperwork. In terms of evaluating your work ethic and fit for organization, recruiter will consider a number of factors. In addition to asking questions about your work history, the recruiter will ask questions designed to determine your attitude toward work. Interviewers look for good, positive attitudes in new hires. The interviewer will also look at your approach to job interview. For example, if you're late arriving to your interview, we aren't going to make a positive impression regarding your work ethic. More than anything, job interviewers are looking for an answer to a pressing problem. The pressing problem is a vacant position, and answer is to hire right person to fill that job. Remind yourself before we go to your next job interview that the interviewer will be overjoyed if your interview is last one he or she has to conduct for this particular job!
